After overcoming a whole lot of obstacles, I decided to subscribe to a dating site to meet new people. I registered at the site in November 2008, but did not pay the necessary subscription fee. In December 2008, I came across the profile of Carlos & instantly send him a message, however I was not allowed to respond to any of his messages without paying the monthly fee. My opening line was "why is a good-looking guy like you single?" Carlos immediately responded to this, but had no response back for the whole of that December...
I finally paid the activation fee in January 2009 & could now read the replies from Carlos. I responded by sending him my mobile number for chatting purposes. Carlos received notification of this via his email & had to re-register at this site to be able to respond to my message. His membership has expired in the mean time & he had to pay the full amount just to view this message.
He phoned me & we had a lovely conversation for almost an hour, without meeting. The first night we met face-to-face.We planned to go ten pin bowling, but the place was closed, so we went & had supper there. We enjoyed each others company so much, that we started hanging out together almost every single day after that.Carlos was living by his mom's place at that time, renting out his flat & I was living in a bachelor's pad. We lived 3 minutes drive apart from each other. After both of us experiencing much heart ache, we were both looking for someone who could be a very good friend of the opposite sex, just to hang out with.
Many nights of supper, movies, tenpin bowling and other activities followed. The two of us became very close. After a few "dates", we decided to take the next step and get romantically involved. I, however, was not ready for this & after 4 days I ended the relationship. Carlos was deeply hurt & did not speak to me for two weeks. When he finally did contact me, he said that our friendship was worth fighting for.
After another month, my heart finally melted & my whole outlook of Carlos changed. We got back together & were suddenly very much in love.
We tied the knot in September 2010 and were pleasantly surprised to find out that we were 4 weeks pregnant on our honeymoon in October 2010. Our beautiful son, Tristan, was born in June 2011...
People do not want to believe that we met via internet dating, but we have a fairy tale to tell to our children. Internet dating does pose risk, but you never know if you might be destined to find your better half this way!
